About the hotel

The Kings Head is a 16th Century Coaching Inn with 12 bedrooms in the centre of the market town of Beccles. On business? We have-comfortable rooms all en-suite, welcoming smiles and staff who undestand your business needs.

We have newly refurbished bedrooms! Lovely Doubles, Twins and a Single. These rooms have been completely refurbished with new bathrooms and we have new beds. We serve good fresh food including three freshly made soups every day, excellent local ales, very drinkable wine by the glass, superb cooked breakfasts with good hospitality and all served with a smile! All our rooms are now designated as non-smoking! Best of British featuring own made Pies, Casseroles and traditional British cookery.

  • The Quay (1 km) - Attractive mooring place by the river Waveney. Riverside walk up to the lcal sailing club and access to the 'Marsh Trail'
  • Beccles Skate Board Park (3 km) - Opened in summer 2003 this new local feature has proved to be very popular with skateboarders.
  • Winterflora (5 km) - Large privately operated Dried Flower shop. A huge range of beautiful products.
  • Pleasurewood Hills (10 km) - Local amusement park just on the edge of Lowestoft. Hours of fun. Seasonal opening so do please check times beforehand

Getting there

Beccles lies on the A146 road between Norwich and Lowestoft and is approximately 10 miles inland from Lowestoft.
 
Turn off at the main roundabout by Beccles Safeway store and follow signs for the town centre.
 
At the mini roundabout turn right and go up to the traffic lights where you have to turn left.
 
Follow this road for 200 yards to the end when you turn right.
 
200 yards on your left you will then see the back of the kings Head Hotel and the entrance to our car park.
 
If travelling from Ipswich:
 
Follow the A12 North until you can turn off for Beccles on the A145.
 
Follow this road all the way into Beccles and you will eventually come into the town and find the Kings Head Hotel on your left opposite Twyfords coffee house.
 
If travelling from London/Cambridge on the A11 turn off for DISS on the A1066 at Thetford.
 
At Diss take the A143 to Bungay and continue on this road to Beccles. This will eventually bring you onto the main Norwich/Lowestoft road (A146) and then follow the signs for Beccles.
 
When travelling in East Anglia do take into account that we do not have the normal motorway network that most counties have and that journey times will therefore take longer.
 
It takes a long time to get to anywhere in East Anglia but when you arrive you will see that your journey has been worthwhile!
